Our History

United Community Corporation, a non-profit commmunity action agency, has been devoted to serving and assisting the city of Newark for over 45 years. The corporation was founded in 1964, and has been the driving force in the city's "War on Poverty" efforts ever since. Over the last four decades UCC has provided the underpriveleged and at-risk residents of Newark with various social service programs. These programs have helped to motivate those in need as well as afford them the vital skills and assistance necessary to gain economic equality.

Since the very beginning, UCC has effectively addressed the issues of the city of Newark and will continue to do so.In addition, UCC prides itself on being one of the country's oldest Community Action Agencies.

Our goal is "to help people help themselves."

Our mission is "to help the disadvantaged; all else is secondary."

Our vision is "to strengthen the spirit of the commnuity by bringing peace, power and respect through our assistance & developmental programs aimed at aiding Newark residents in need."
